First thing im going to do is get the undercarriage sprayed down with rust inhibitor and undercoating, should help keep the road salt off and dampen some noise. Rust inhibitor, perhaps; but undercoating, nein! Why not undercoating?

All of these coating fail over time. When the coating starts to become porous after a few years, the water has a hard time getting under the surface as intended, but one moisture penetrates, it becomes impossible for the layer under the surface to dry out or "breathe". Rust inhibitor or waxoyl should be fine

That stuff is great, never seen rust where that was applied and doesn't chip away. They also use something similar to touch up any corners that were missed.

Be careful of anything that you have been told by anyone at Velocity. Make sure you verify everything with a trusted mechanic with significant G experience. Why? Been there. Even a couple of inspections by the local mercedes mechanics did not catch the cracked exhaust manifold on the G320 I purchased from them last year. And the AC that Velocity "repaired" turned out to be a temporary fix....So...Caveat emptor. These guys will say anything to sell a vehicle. There is a reason why that G has been on the lot for 1.5 years.

Do you have any recommendations for mechanics who you trust to take a look?

I took a look at it, it's too tall to fit in my parking spot... so its an automatic no go for me. Smells like crayons too :P Edited by Jamez667 6/6/2016 5:34 PM
